After thinking there was no way it would drop enough t work, I got a call at about 4pm from Sprinty to say Steve was in Stretton and it was looking good. Jumped in the car and headed down to the Mynd.
Driving across the top I expected to see lots of PG's high in the sky, nothing! The ferns on the Mynd were blowing strong and the sky look really mixed up.
Parked up and spoke with Steve who said it had been flyable but became strong as he and Nigel Rue were flying the Knoll under some large expanding cloud. Both landed and waited it out. Wind speed then was around 28Mph.
By 6pm it had settled down enough for a few to go off and play in an amazing sky. Looked like wave bars were setting up and after a good weather discussion we could not agree so went flying instead.
I opted to be passenger with Sprinty on his new Takoo and if anyone wants a cheap hardly used GIN Sprint then contact him quick as he won’t fly it anymore as the Tandem has him hooked.
The flight was smooth and height gain was around 200' ato. The wind was shifting SW slowly so we decided to bottom land to be cautious. The ride down was challenging at times working out best approach and after a few minutes we were down. Mick Bird-Jones flew and after 5 minutes joined us in the landing field, Mick said it had gone 'orrible' so flew down. The lovely Hayley then kindly drove down to collect us.
An unexpected and enjoyable late evening flight. Just doing the video which will be up later.
