Sprinty and I went on another adventure today and went across to Aberystwyth and Constitution Hill. The forecast was for 9mph WNW all day. We arrived at 11:00 and went up on the train. The season ticket we paid for early this year has soon paid for itself. The wind was light and 10Mph so we waited and were joined by Mick and Hayley and Stephen Taylor and Carol who came along for a Tandem flight.
It came on around 11:30 so I launched and floated around for a while and then top landed. Mick and Harley went up on the tandem along with Stephen on his borrowed glider. Nick top landed and it went light with Mick and Stephen both disappearing to the bottom.
By 2pm it had really switched off and we were wondering what was going on? It slowly came back on so we all went flying once more. I took off on Sprinty’s TAKOO with Carol and were soon whizzing up and down the cliff face. We were then joined by Sprinty and Stephen. The air was smooth with the odd thermal kicking off the rocks below to keep you on your toes.
The ride down to the beach is just amazing at this site; gliding over the hotels and houses is a view to see. Wind at beach level was non existent so landing was flat out with a big flare to slow up, however, the shingle is deep in places and acts as a brake when you feet touch it and trying to run it off is like running in treacle, we almost made it but Carols little legs dug in deep and over we went. No harm done as my landing is always soft, thanks Carol. All in all a great day on the coast.
Sprinty was on camera duty today with lots of cracking photo’s to follow soon.
