The Mere Bash will be on 11-12 September this year. It’s the Avon Hang Gliding and Paragliding club's annual weekend party. Everyone is welcome - flyers,non-flyers friends and family.Last year we flew both days and I have requested flying weather again from the weather gods.
Everyone camps (you can arrive on Friday evening or any time on Saturday), the main fun takes place on Saturday evening. We have a marquee with ridiculously cheap beer, fabulous live music ( we have the amazing Rock Pirates returning - now called Dark Horse) and the best dancing you have ever seen. There will be a huge barbeque, a bouncy castle for the small folk, and a bonfire on Saturday evening - so remember those marshmallows to toast. Bring your own stuff to play with - toy gliders, kites, bikes etc.Last year we had a fantastic impromptu fire juggling display and hopefully will do again.
It all takes place in the bottom landing at Mere Rifle range in Wiltshire, a location steeped in the history of hang gliding and paragliding. It’s at 51° 6'0.91"N, 2°16'14.74"W (you can paste that into the search box in Google Earth or Google Maps). To get there, get yourself to Mere, and then turn into Manor Road between the Lloyds Bank and the Nisa shop, and follow the Mere Bash signs.
Tickets will be £10 in advance and £15 on the door. There will be fantastic souvenir T shirts will also be on sale. Please bring your own food for the barbeque, and all the water you’ll need as there isn’t a supply nearby ( but there will be a portaloo).
